We’d love to hear from you.
Welcome and thank you for visiting the Gauthier Plastic Surgery Website. Please contact us to learn more about our practice.
Stephen Gauthier M.D. is a board certified plastic surgeon whose practice has served the greater Oklahoma City area since 2006. A 1998 graduate of OU medical school, he then completed a six year general surgery residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. This was followed by a plastic surgery fellowship in Charleston, South Carolina form 2004 through 2006. He then returned to Oklahoma City and became the first plastic surgeon to be hired by the prestigious practice of Drs. Dalton, Silverstein, and Kelly, the oldest and most respected plastic surgery center in the state of Oklahoma.
This experience allowed him to continue the focus and training necessary to improve his skill regarding aesthetic procedures. Today, Dr. Gauthier continues a legacy of quality care and dedication to the field of plastic surgery.
Dr. Gauthier has a reputation of excellence in face, breast and body procedures, as well as reconstructive and rejuvenative treatments. He was actively involved at the Paul Silverstein Baptist Burn Center providing expertise in the treatment and surgery of burned hands and faces for 15 years.
Dr. Gauthier and his staff provide a welcoming environment in which patients can receive the highest level of personalized attention. His state-of-the art facility allows patients to have their procedure in a safe, private, and quiet surgical center directly attached to his office.
With the increase in plastic and cosmetic surgery, you may notice that you have more and more plastic surgeons or so-called plastic surgeons to choose from. Choosing the right surgeon can be nearly as difficult as choosing to have surgery in the first place. I am board certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery after completing eight years of training.
My goal as a person and a physician is to make your visit as comfortable and informative as possible, both on my website and in my office. From the time you walk in the door of my office, the experience is all about you. My friendly staff is always available to answer any of your questions, and on top of that, I make myself available to all my patients 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Plastic surgery is more than making a patient beautiful. In our society today, it seems that true plastic surgeons have been underscored and reduced to just that. If you learn nothing else while on your search, please know this, a plastic surgeon has had years of specialized training both in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery and performs both on a regular basis. If a doctor “sells” himself to you, be leery. Marketing is generally frowned upon by the best in our trade. Word of mouth travels fast and a good plastic surgeon has no reason to market themselves. Offers such as “free” or “two for one” are fine when shopping at your local grocery store but not when it comes to your body.
Whether you are interested in a simple procedure such as botox or fillers, or a more involved procedure such as a breast lift or abdominoplasty, know that a plastic surgeon will do all procedures with the utmost knowledge and integrity. I urge you to make the right choice for you when it comes to your plastic surgeon. While plastic surgery has many benefits it is not without risk and should not be entered into lightly. I say this because I want to see you look and feel your best and to achieve your desired results you should ask EVERY question you need to.
The condition of the skin plays a vital role in how you feel about your appearance. Lasers provide an effective treatment to improve and correct skin problems such as sun damage, hyperpigmentation, vascular lesions, surface scars including acne, as well as unwanted hair.
These treatments are safe with minimal pain or downtime. If you are interested in improving your skin we will be happy to discuss the options available for your specific needs.
Take it a step further by treating the face and neck with Morpheus: A radiofrequency based micro needling device to rejuvenate collagen or a chemical peel to reduce fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation.
Dr. Gauthier offers in office non-surgical injectable treatments to help maintain a fresh natural appearance. Injectables used correctly can provide a youthful, age appropriate look by softening lines, adding volume and diminishing wrinkles.
His focus is to provide these treatments while avoiding the all too common problem of over correction. Dr. Gauthier, along with his staff will evaluate your needs to guide you in choosing the appropriate treatment for the “best” you.
Also known as upper and lower blepharoplasty. This is a beneficial surgery for those in their 40’s and 50’s looking to appear less tired and refreshed. Blepharoplasty combines skin excision with removal of the “puffy” fat around the eyelids. A low risk procedure with virtually no pain and minimal recovery time. This is one of Dr. Gauthier’s favorite procedures.
Also available as a minimally invasive procedure is Face/Necktite. This radiofrequency base tightening technology treats laxity of the lower face, jowls & neck. A great option for patients seeking less downtime and recovery with no scars.
Facial aesthetics are a specialty of Dr. Gauthier’s. He spent six years in practice with Dr. Michael Kelly, a regional expert in facial aesthetics for many years. This experience allowed Dr. Gauthier to develop facial surgery into one of his passions. Facial aesthetics includes face, neck, eyelid, and nasal cosmetic procedures.
The over-riding principle is to look age appropriate and refreshed, avoiding drastic over corrections. Consultations will involve direct evaluation by Dr. Gauthier helping choose the best options for you. You will have the opportunity in your consultation to view photos of previous facelift procedures, and you and Dr. Gauthier will discuss your procedure in detail.
Cellfina is a revolutionary FDA approved treatment intended for long-term improvement in the appearance of cellulite in the buttocks and thigh areas of adult females. It is a minimally invasive single in office treatment with no anesthesia and minimal downtime.
The goal of liposuction is to improve trouble areas of fatty deposits which are resistant to diet and exercise. It is not intended to be a weight loss procedure. When used in this fashion, liposuction is extremely successful with high patient satisfaction. Dr. Gauthier utilizes tumescent liposuction which is the gold standard technique with time proven results. It most often requires a general anesthetic which he believes provides better results and avoids pain and discomfort during procedures. Popular areas include the abdomen, flanks, inner/outer thighs, arms, and chin. Liposuction is a safe procedure when done appropriately with no scarring and minimal downtime.
Breast augmentation remains the most popular procedure in plastic surgery. Due to a number of recent advances in breast implants, appropriate and thoughtful consideration to choosing the right implant for you is critical. These new innovations include cohesive gel implants, new shaped implants, and types of implant texturing. The ultimate goal remains to fill out the breast envelope while avoiding over-augmentation and its associated complications.
Dr. Gauthier will help you choose the right implant for you, obtaining the appropriate size, feel, and appearance for your breasts. Dr. Gauthier also performs many removal and replacement procedures when the age of implants or complications associated with them requires their removal and/or replacement.
Mastopexy is one of the more common breast procedures. It can be performed alone or in combination with augmentation for rejuvenation of the breast. Current techniques do include incisions which mean scars on the lower portion of the breast. Traditionally these scars are very acceptable given time to fade. This procedure is ideal for women with concerns about the “sagging” breast or the shape, size and direction of the nipple and areolar complex.
Also available is a minimally invasive procedure called Bodytite: using radiofrequency based tightening technology to treat laxity in areas of the abdomen, flanks, arms and inner thighs.
Also known as “tummy tuck.” The goal is to remove excess skin and restore a youthful look to the abdominal wall. The procedure is designed to address those stubborn areas that occur secondary to age, weight gain, or pregnancy. These areas are often resistant to even the most extreme exercise regimens. Abdominoplasty is not a “cookie cutter” operation and Dr. Gauthier will design a procedure for you that includes skin removal, fascial placation, and liposuction. Emphasis is placed on limitation of scarring by combining the above measures . Indications range from post partum skin stretch and striae to patients that have achieved significant weight loss. Options include mini, standard, or extended abdominoplasty. Liposuction is incorporated to help define your curves and address problem areas in the upper abdomen and flank regions. Fascial plication will flatten the abdomen and reverse the effects of pregnancy on the abdominal musculature.
